Changing My Image

Day Two  – I have to audit myself.

Today’s task: audit your brand — look at all the ways your blog communicates to visitors to make sure it’s consistent and focused — and make one update to reinforce your brand.

Oh dear, it looks tricky and scary, but these guys know what they are doing, so I spent six hours today, changing themes. updating widgets, footers and headers and generally looking at this site, and the sites of those I admire.   It appears my theme was not longer being used – sad face-  Guess what I chose another theme, it is Penscratch 2, I was using Penscratch 1.  Hahahaha , I had no idea what I was already using, I hit the LIVE button and the sky fell in.  I lost all my custom settings.

I ate a marshmallow and considered my fate.  It felt like the cat had just knocked my playing card tower down.  I panicked and fired off an email to my lovely hosts, who promised they would be back to me in 48 hours.  I wanted to cry but ate two more mallows instead.  Long story short I figured it all out and the history was all there I just had to find it.  Today I have lifted the bonnet to this site and now understand it’s workings a little more. I tried to change but everything was just a little bit too shiny and flashy for me.

Am I too old to change, can I not see the flaws, am I stuck in a rut or just do I like what I like.  After six hours of work my site looks the same, even though I broke it, I have built another, just the same, except I have a translate button, and lost my home page somewhere, so that’s two changes, I hit the brief.

  1. Wow, amazing weblog layout! How long have you ever been blogging for? you made blogging glance easy. The entire glance of your site is great, let alone the content!

  2. You actually make it appear really easy along with your presentation but I find this matter to be actually something that I think I’d by no means understand. It seems too complex and very wide for me. I’m having a look ahead in your subsequent post, I’ll attempt to get the grasp of it!

    1. Thanks Alex. I chose a very simple theme -Penscratch- and played with all the options before I actually published anything. It seems daunting to start with but do a little at a time and there is lots of help out there. The Daily Post has a weekly Community Pool which is fantastic for advice from other bloggers if you have never used it try.
